I thought it was probably prudent to mention this minor detail... I resigned!

I handed in my notice the other day, about a week or so ago, and I finish up here on around the 9th of May, one day before my 3rd wedding anniversary.

There have been some really good opportunites as a result of working here, and I learnt pretty much everything I know here, but it's finally time to move on, into a position that has a bit more responsibility, and a bit more scope for new projects and what not.

So yeah, I start my new position on the 15th of May, after a few days as an unemployed bum...might have to hit the Bunbury circuit during that time and see my brother's new house etc, and maybe catch up with some of the kr3w!
McWoot!

cool haha
haha cool

It's all good experience though. I learnt a few things to take back onto the other boat. Like "I'm not fit enough to sail an S80."

Oh, the Witch was the auto.

I feel I'm really out of touch with my friends, and my life from about 6 years ago. I was in Bunbury on Tuesday and Wednesday, and met up with a good friend. It seems that everyone is married, or divorced, or has 2 kids, or a drug problem, or is gay, or is leaving the country or all of the above.

When the hell did all this happen? I just seem to be getting way out of synch with everyone. I don't know where anyone lives, where they are, what they're doing...nothing. I read livejournals, and try and post on the few occasions that I have something relevant to say, but it's obviously not enough. Short of spam-rining everyone, I dunno.

Maybe that's what happens?

There's an idea for a New Years resolution. I'll try and harrass people, to try and keep up. It is hard though, with full time work, a family, trying to change out of this career. Then I get to the weekend, and there's often barely enough time for a sail on Sunday. To see my own brother is a 2 hour trip, and a 2 hour trip back, just to squeeze in a conversation with my brother, and my parents. But I guess everyone else is probably really busy as well, so I've got no excuse.

Gadzooks, the backups failed again. Time to start again. Trusty ol' Veritas.

    <lj:music>Franz Ferdinand - 09 Michael</lj:music>

We went sailing on Sunday, it blew like a mofo, which we have not had since last Summer season. A wise decision to change down a foresail size or two was welcome, given that we were pretty much sideways with 4 people on board...
After gybing around the second mark we managed to lose one of the sheets on the traveller somehow, which resulted in Angry copping the full force of the boom in the face. He blacked out momentarily, and then proceeded to bleed all over the boat. When he came to, he started swooshing his blood over the deck, mumbling "jush clean t' blud up" and shit like that. Pretty funny now, but it was a bit of a worry then. He's ok now, just a bit of pain in the head. My old man copped it across the back of the head, and my father-in-law took the boom in the ear. At the time of the traveller breaking I was on the bow on the leeward side, sorting the spinnaker out. The gust that hit us, with my weight being on the wrong side caused me to rocket over the side. I managed to grab the shortstay just in time, and drag my sorry ass back on board.

Most fucking awesome sail in ages. So...who's sailing to Rotto with me? ;)

Did yoga last night...man, my muscles are caning now! *whimpers*

I'm probably due for an update.

Since my last major post:

1. Bought my second house. 4 bedroom place, nice and big, same area I was in before. The house is so friggin awesome. What a SAGA trying to get in there thought! There were delays in every possible aspect, and we ended up settling a week late. BUT the important thing is that we got in there at all, so I'm not going to complain. Ok, so I will complain, but I SHOULDN'T complain. I'm so much more relaxed, my anxiety disorder is really under control.

2. I'm still married, so that's pretty good. My Dad however...well, that's a different story. His second wife left him, but I think he might have another bird on the go already, so that's cool.

3. We won the Winter season in sailing, on both Handicap and Championship. We came first in every race but one, in which we came second. Blair couldn't be arsed cleaning the bottom of the boat, and it cost us the race. Summer season starts soon. I'm hoping to do two things: a) Buy a Laser, and sail on my own with the Centreboards on Saturdays and b) Borrow another Red Witch, and sail against my current boat. I'll need crew for that lads, so dust off your eye patches.

4. I went to Bali a few months ago. That was basically my first time on a plane, and my first time out of the state/country/continent. (Yeah, so I'm cheating with the whole country/continent thing)

5. I've been learning the guitar for about 9 months or so now, so that's going well.

That's pretty much all I can think of. I'm sure other stuff has happened, but I can't think of it at the moment.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....nope, that's it for now!

The banks gave me finance and shit, so the bank now owns me for the next 30 years of my life. Orright! Actually, it's not the bank, it's ING, so I expect Billy Connolly coming around and doing my finance for me.

It's in Palmyra, and I'll let you all know the address once we move in. I won't post it here, because ASIO will kick my door in and raid my shit. the crazy foo's! HHAHAHAHAHHAA, They probably just picked that up on the scanners, and now they will be reading all these journals. I can't wait until they read Al's crazy dreams. Shit, I didn't say Al. I meant... Sir Equinox. And I didn't buy a house. Red Leader did. *looks over shoulders quickly...leans in* *whispers* "they're in the walls...and my pencil leads........................"

And Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

-jk-

Let's split!

I got my uni results. When you work in a uni, these funny things keep landing on your desk. So, here goes. I needed to pass these two units to graduate. I was working full time this year, so i was not expecting a lot. Anyway, here they are:
Intelligent Systems: 70% (D)
Object-Oriented Programming With C++: 9-fucking-2 %! (HD)

Yeah, 92% for C++!! Now, for the dodgy news. I got 68% for assigments 1 and 2. they were worth 50% all up. So, I go into exam with 34%. Exam is worth 50%. What score do I get if I get 100% on my exam? That's right. Dodgy huh? I think my lecturer is trying to force me into doing honours. Little bitch, I am DONE with uni. I graduate! Wooooooooooo!

Good luck to y'all who are waiting for results, or have got them or whatever. And to those who are not.

Have a grouse christmas guys!
Why we shouldn't let people buy their way into uni

Don't get me wrong here, I'm all for embracing the culture of people around the world, and think that different people have the same effect as many different and beautiful flowers in a big ass garden. That disclaimer simply so no-one goes nuts, but the story isn't REALLY anything to do with where someone comes from, but rather, it questions the wiseness of letting ANYONE, from here or overseas into our unis without appropriately determining their abilities.
This is a conversation I had with one of our masters students. Our masters program is open to anyone who wants to pay $100k per year up front. You don't need a degree in IT or anything. This is actually the transcript from an ICQ convo I had with a mate, when I was explaining it all to him.

^KrOmE^ (05:01 PM) :
I just had some fucking vegetable at the help desk

Vegetable: i am wanting to access the folder on the desktop

^KrOmE^ (05:01 PM) :
......o........kaaaaay.....more info

Vegetable: just tell me using the cmd how am i accessing the folder on the desktop

^KrOmE^ (05:01 PM) :
You want to get into a folder on the desktop using the command prompt?
DiscoMonkey (05:02 PM) :
haha wtf?!

Vegetable: just tell me using the cmd how am i accessing the the folder

^KrOmE^ (05:02 PM) :
*mumbles* If you shut the fuck up for 5 seconds, I'll SHOW yoou
^KrOmE^ (05:02 PM) :
right, type c:, then cd docume~1
DiscoMonkey (05:03 PM) :
hahaha did you kill him

Vegetable: No, don't worry about that, just tell me how am i accessing.....

DiscoMonkey (05:03 PM) :
i wouldve killed him
^KrOmE^ (05:03 PM) :
Yes mate, I'm showing you now
DiscoMonkey (05:03 PM) :
ooooh it gets better
^KrOmE^ (05:03 PM) :
Now, type your profile name

Profile

You know what your profile name is?

Do you know your login name?

Vegetable: ....Just tell me how am I accessing....

DiscoMonkey (05:04 PM) :
hahahaha
DiscoMonkey (05:04 PM) :
fuuuuuuuuuuuuck
kill him now

^KrOmE^ (05:04 PM) :
Ok, here is a folder on my desktop.
A bit late

But better late than never. Unless the sheer thought of reading this post makes you convulse and vomit. In which case, you probably shouldn't be reading it. Unless you enjoy vomiting and convulsing.

I have a huge ass C++ assignment due last Friday, so I should really get my act together and try and sort that out. I do NOT wanna do this unit again... Noooo!!!!

I graded to 4th Kyu, Red Belt the Sunday before last. The grading was a real slut. It was fucking hot, and the senior sensei pushed us to the edge. It was pretty rewarding afterwards, but you feel like you're in hell when you're doing it.
So, now I've got probably about 6 months of red, then about 1 and a half years on brown, then I can go for my black belt. Sweet.

Last Saturday was the 3rd and final tournament for the year. I was looking forward to the day, but then when I was there, I ran into the guy who beat me for the gold last time. He said that because there was no-one left in his division, he had been pushed up into my division, so there was a good chance we would be fighting again. I shat myself. It's not that anyone would get hurt, it's just that it feels like you have less of a chance when you've been beaten by someone before. Annnnnyway, he got his ass creamed by a green belt, who I promptly caned, so I took GOLD! Woooo! Oh, and I got gold in the kata too. Fuckin' yeah!!! So, obviously the day felt a whole lot more worthwhile.

In our Team Kumite event, we cam 3rd, so that was a bronze medal. I lost my first fight to the current state champion black belt, so I wasn't worried there. Then I creamed the brown belt that I fought in my second. So that was pretty cool too.

Umm...yeah, I think that's it.
